Model Primary and Nursery School, Derry

Teddy Bear Hospital

8th Mar 2024

The child Health Society at Ulster University visited the school on Wednesday.  The aims of the society are to support paediatric learning among their peers, raise awareness on ill-health among children but also to promote healthy lifestyle habits and diminish any fears that children may have surrounding healthcare visits

The event is designed to allay any fears or worries children commonly have when they visit the hospital or the GP practice for appointments or procedures such as blood taking, scans such as MRI or CT or the worst of all, examining their throat! We hope by using the Teddy Bears and demonstrating these procedures to them, that this will help to reduce any anxiety and worry they have when visiting doctors or nurses.

The children had a great day as you can see by the photos.
