Special Educational Needs

All children are welcome in the Model and care is taken to match curricular provision with all pupils' needs. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum suitably differentiated to meet the needs of all children.

Monitoring and assessment is used to detect pupils with a specific learning difficulty or special talents.  The class teacher and SENCO liaise closely with the parents of children with special educational needs to develop an appropriate programme to meet the child's needs.  The school works closely with WELB Psychology Service and various learning support agencies to ensure that each child benefits from the best educational opportunities.  The Reading Centre is situated on the school grounds and provides an advisory service and outside support to pupils from our own school and from other schools in the local area.

Attached to the school is a Key Stage 1 ASD class which caters for 8 children.  In September 2010 a Key Stage 2 Learning Support Unit opened which accommodates 12 children with special educational needs.
