Roots of Empathy

Primary 3 have started Roots of Empathy. At the heart of the program a baby and parent visit the classroom over the school year. The children observe the baby's development and talk about the baby's feelings and intentions. The long term aims include building responsible citizenship and responsive parenting. In the short term Roots of Empathy focuses on raising levels of empathy, resulting in more respectful and caring relationships and reduced levels of bullying and aggression. Primary 3s have participated in the first theme which was 'Meeting the family'. Thank you to baby Rionach and her mum Laura for volunteering to undertake this program.
