Trip to the vets

20th Mar 2017

Our Primary 1 topic this term is 'The Vets' As part of this topic the children went on a trip to Whitehouse Veterinary Clinic. Some children had never been on a bus before so they were very excited about the trip and it was an adventure from start to finish!

At the vets we were given a tour around the reception area and we talked about some of the jobs that the staff do. We were then shown into one of the rooms where each child used a stethoscope to listen to a real dog's heartbeat. The dog's name was Mouse! The children loved this. The vet told us how to look after a dog and showed us a rabbit called Rodger. After that the vet answered all of the children's questions. The children thought of excellent questions and the vet was very impressed. After that we were taken downstairs to where the farm animals are treated. A different vet showed us a lamb and two kid goats that were only two days old. Again, the children asked lots of questions.

After we had all washed our hands each child was given a colouring in page and a sweet.

We all had a fantastic day and we would like to thank all the staff at Whitehouse.
